Assessment Training and Consultancy

Flexible, affordable and evidence-based assessment training and consultancy for schools, academies and colleges

At Evidence Based Education, we support you to navigate the world of assessment by providing high-quality training and insight on assessment theory and practice, applicable to all subjects and schools.

We believe that – with the right training and support – assessment is a tool that can be used more effectively, efficiently and confidently. This can help in linking curriculum and pedagogy more strongly, better understanding learners’ knowledge and skills, and supporting pupils in their learning progression.

The Assessment Lead Programme
The Assessment Lead Programme is a truly innovative online learning platform. It will encourage you and your whole team to re-think your approach to assessment and support you to lead improvement. According to one of our Assessment Leads, ALP is "the best CPD we've ever had".
By generating and using higher-quality information on pupil learning, and better integrating assessment with curriculum and pedagogy, teaching can be more responsive to pupil needs. ALP will encourage you to re-think your approach to assessment and support you to implement change.
In-person courses
We also run the Assessment Lead Programme as an in-person course, either in regional hubs over a longer period of time, or as an intensive, four-day residential.
Network with like-minded professionals from schools similar to yours, and learn from others with different contexts. Share best practice, create a local and global network of support, and enjoy the highest-quality training.
Assessment Essentials
“What every teacher trainee, recently qualified teacher, and in-service teacher needs to know and be able to do about assessment”.
Improve your whole approach to assessment... Assessment Essentials will make you question existing practices, improve formative and summative assessment methods, and link assessment with curriculum and pedagogy to improve student outcomes.
  • Before the Assessment Lead Programme, I thought I knew assessment, but I didn't. Put simply, without good assessment, you cannot have good teaching and learning.

Thank you to the entire Evidence Based Education team, for your relentless drive towards revolutionising CPD and your work in leading the quest for evidence-based practice in education. Awesome.

  • “We have gone through ALP, and the programme has really opened my eyes. I’m now rereading the content for the third or fourth time, we're hoping to put more staff on future cohorts, and it is absolutely the right thing for all schools to do.”

  • Schools desperately need this kind of clear guidance to question the how and the what of their assessment practices.Lots of areas of my direct work will be affected by the Assessment Lead Programme, including pedagogy and supporting schools with learning, curriculum design and questioning their assessment practices.

  • We have completed the first three sections of the Assessment Lead Programme and are really enjoying it! It is really clear and I like the fact that it is drip feeding me the information through smaller sections. It is also great to have the ideas founded on reliable research and peer-reviewed articles.
