How can we help improve teacher assessment quality?
Over the last few weeks, our minds have been focused on – amongst other things – how we can help improve the quality of teacher assessment in schools. It’s a tough nut to crack! We’ve taken two approaches, both of which are still very much nascent, but offer promise.
Firstly, we’ve been working on some guidance for the EEF. The hope is that we can provide something usable, useful and practical for teachers; we hope that the guidance will also help provide a springboard to teachers using the DIY Evaluation Guide for evaluating the impact of choices made in school.
Secondly, we’ve begun our thinking on an assessment cpd offering. This really is in its early stages (our whiteboard is full of ‘bright ideas’!), so we’re reading lots, talking to teachers and school leaders, testing out our thoughts and engaging with our Advisory Board members. At the minute, all we can say is watch this space, but we hope that we will have a pilot version ready for September.
